They are DAP’s Teresa Kok, Amanah’s Hatta Ramli, as well as PKR’s Fahmi Fadzil, Maria Chin Abdullah and Tan Yee Kew.
Fahmi said the purpose of the report was to request for several investigations on Hamid’s claims.
This includes an investigation over the alleged interference by home minister Hamzah Zainudin into police matters, the use of private jets to go to Sabah and convince politicians to switch allegiance, as well as corruption in the police force.
Fahmi said the allegations must be taken seriously because it was made by Hamid as the top cop, just days before his tenure ended yesterday.
“We ask for Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin to provide an explanation (on the former IGP’s claims) and what actions he will take against the individuals concerned,” he added.
Hatta said the IGP’s claims gave the impression of a “rotten system” that was operating within the police force.
He hoped the police would open a detailed investigation in order to restore the force’s image.
Meanwhile, Chin said these allegations showed that the Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission (IPCMC) must be formed immediately.
She stressed on the need for Parliament to reconvene in order to discuss and pass the IPCMC bill which could facilitate investigations with the hope of returning some integrity to the police force.
Fahmi also said he lodged another police report over Hamzah’s alleged attempt to appoint a new Special Branch director to gain better control over the division.
“The police need to investigate this immediately. If this allegation is true, action needs to be taken against those involved,” he said.
Fahmi added that he is confident the police would conduct investigations without fear or favour as the reputation of the force was at stake.
