SHAH ALAM:
A total of 11,793 cases of dengue fever were reported in Selangor up to May 28, said state health director Dr Sha’ari Ngadiman.

In a statement today, he said there was an increase of 87.2% compared to the same epidemiology week last year.

“The five districts that recorded the highest number of dengue fever cases were Petaling with 4,436 cases, Klang with 2,729, Hulu Langat with 2,435, Gombak with 1,188 and Sepang with 334.

“The total number of active dengue outbreak localities is 331 with 33 hotspots. There are 26 uncontrolled outbreaks and 272 controlled and new outbreaks,” he said, adding that the number of deaths remained at three.

Sha’ari also urged the public to carry out regular cleaning activities to get rid of Aedes mosquito breeding grounds.

“You only need 10 minutes to check around, get rid of stagnant water, and use larvicides to kill the mosquito larvae,” he said.
