
In a statement, Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd said a transit officer onboard the train successfully evacuated the passengers, with videos on social media showing them moving from one train to another with the assistance of Rapid Rail staff.
On X, netizen @shiorices expressed surprise at “getting stuck and then being saved” on the KL monorail.
Rapid Rail apologised for the inconvenience and said its engineering team was at the site carrying out repair works to restore normal operations as soon as possible.
In a separate statement, the Kuala Lumpur fire and rescue department said while 373 passengers had been successfully evacuated, a 58-year-old woman had fainted during the incident.
“She regained consciousness after receiving treatment from health ministry officers and was handed over to the ministry for further treatment after that,” said the department.
Alternative shuttle train services have been activated between the KL Sentral and Hang Tuah stations, and the Hang Tuah and Bukit Nanas stations.
Shuttle buses have also been provided between the Titiwangsa and Bukit Nanas stations.
