Chan Su Yin, 48, discovered sourdough bread while in the US. “I was amazed by the taste and texture. So I started baking sourdough bread, learning through online resources,” she said. Having heard about its potential health benefits, she encouraged her mother, Poon Moy, to give it a try. Poon did – and after about a year, her glucose levels stabilised. Poon told her doctor that the only change in her diet was sourdough bread. After returning to Malaysia, Chan had to choose: return to her career in pharmaceutical sales or take a leap of faith by selling sourdough bread. Having witnessed how it helped her mother, she chose the latter.
